Rutshelle Guillaume stands as one of the most transformative cultural figures in contemporary Haitian music. Born on July 28, 1988, in Port-au-Prince, her artistic foundations were laid in the church where her father served as a pastor. She earned a philosophy degree from the State University of Haiti and taught high school students before fully pursuing her musical calling.
Her professional career accelerated after joining Yole Dérose’s Haïti Cœur de Femmes initiative and completing intensive vocal workshops with legends like Emeline Michel. Guillaume’s 2013 breakout hit, "Kite m kriye," propelled her into the spotlight, leading to her debut album Emotions in 2014. Subsequent albums, “Rebelle (2017),” and “Quoi Qu'il Advienne (2021),” cemented her status as a powerhouse in Kompa, Zouk, and Afro-Caribbean fusion. Tracks like "Rete La," "Tolere w," and "M Pa La Ankò" generated millions of streams worldwide.
Breaking barriers as a female lead in the traditionally male-dominated Kompa scene, she established her own live ensemble, the RG Band. Her talent earned her international acclaim, culminating in the Best Caribbean Artist title at the 2023 Trace Awards.
Guillaume’s creative vision extends beyond music into cinema, where she starred in the 2022 film Vakans, and enterprise, founding beauty and lifestyle brands including RG Collections.
